Esp Afrika is working
together with the Department of Arts and Culture this year to bring you the
Annual Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
The Department of Arts and
Culture has worked very well in the past few years to invest in the Arts all
over South Africa. It has helped to bring Entertainment and to our Community
and invest in the local talent by bringing together local artists with the
already popular household names. The Department of Arts and Culture is working
on a program titled “The Mzansi Golden Economy (MGE)” and the Cape Town Jazz
Festival is one of the key projects supported through this program.
Though some of us never seem
to realize it, art is a cultural aspect in our lives. The type of Art we invest
our time in has a lot to do with our upbringing and our cultural background.
The Initiatives of the Department of Arts and Culture help to expose us to different
cultures through music and art. This year the Department of Arts and Culture
does it again by collaborating with Esp. Africa and a number of different sponsors
to bring you the Cape Town Jazz Festival. Taking Place on the 27th
and 28th of March, the Jazz
Festival aims to take its audience on an unforgettable experience this year by taking
us back to the roots of jazz, presenting us with some of the most influential
artists of our generation. With local artists like Sipho “Hotsix” Mabuse, Yvonne
Tchaka Tchaka and Claud Cozens Trio to International artists like Amel Larrieux,
Dirty Loops and Wallace Roney.
It’s pretty evident that
this year the Jazz festival will go all out and will be taking the audience on
an intimate journey that will be remembered for years to come.
The Jazz Festival also hosts
a number of development programs that focus on developing the skills of the
local commuters and training them and feeding them with the necessary knowledge
of the industry in just a few days.
Even though not all of us
may be able to afford to get a ticket for the Jazz festival, we can all take
part by joining the FREE development programs or going to the free concert at
Green Market Square on the 25th of March. You can go on the Cape Town
Jazz Festival website for more information or search the hashtag “#CTIJF” on
twitter for more information. Don’t miss out, Join the Movement.
